with a type9 you need to step back the top rail to clear the back of the head 27-30mm to get it to fit.

this way you can also retain the proper stat housing that the cooling system needs.

hi Bazr thanks for info, just looked at your build in CKC to see if on the right track. It,s always difficult to gauge from fotos how close things are but it looks like yours might be a bit lower in the chassis than mine so far. I have chopped sump to a height of 150mm and that sits 25mm lower than chassis. I have moved engine back so that thermostat is about 5mm from bulkhead so I will now cut bulkhead tube to clear that. To get clearance for gear lever at this initial position there is about 20mm each side of starter casing and clutch casings on bellhousing to tubes U7/U8. Any chance you can tell me how much you lowered yours?
cheers
tony

when you say you got gearbox position right, does that mean the position of gear lever or the level of prop entry in relation to rear diff? If thats the case I done it arse about face. I positioned engine level to chassis on 25 mm sump lower to chassis but re lowered it as it was to close to bonnet position. It is now 35mm , gearlever does not fowl on rail but prop entry of g/box is about 10mm lower than diff, would that be ok.
cheers

Well, the propshaft has universal joints for a reason. The bearings in them would wear out if the propshaft was always in line. 10 mm is just right to keep the joints moving.
