Default A few questions before i go any further...

hello, have a few questions before i go any further and make a muck up of anything. here goes...

in regards to the transmission tunnel is there any different modifications that need to be done to recieve either the TYPE 9 or MT75 gearbox? if so are these listed anywhere, had a look but no joys.

and whats the main differances between the two gearboxes? seem to think one will have better acceleration and the other top speed, not sure which way round

what nut and bolt grades do i need to use before i go out and buy any?

what thickness metal are the suspension brackets and shocker brackets made from? the book dosn't seem to say.

when do i fully weld the chassis?

any help much appreciated

Cheers

Jake

The transmission tunnel needs to be modified in order to fit the MT75 gearbox, as the box is wider than the type 9, i think guide is in the book amendments thread in the announcements section.

I THINK you're needing at least 8.8 grade bolts, im not sure what nuts you need though.

Again i THINK the suspension brackets are made out of 3mm plate mild steel.

You fully weld the chassis after tacking all of the suspension brackets in place.

I hope this helps.

A simple search for "MT75" turns this up

MT75 is newer, bigger, and 5 speed.
Type 9 came in either 4 or 5 speed.
MT75 can take more power, but there are a lot of Type 9s with 180+bhp running through them. The roadster is a lot lighter than the sierra, so less strain on the tranny.

8.8 and make sure they are marked on the head to indicate this.
I've actually got some 12.9 in certain places

When assembling the suspension, use normal nuts to start with, then when you are sure everything fits/has the clearance it needs, then replace with Nylocs. Makes it easier to do up/undo everything, and doesn't wear out the nylocs

Yes, you need BOLTS, not SETSCREWS. They must have a plain shank. In an ideal world, there is no shear loading on threads.
