Default Cycle wings

Just a quick one for the saturn boys,

hopefully fitting the roadster with 17" alloys running 205/45/17 tyres, question being would your wings be big enough and give good coverage?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Daz,

The flat parts of each brackets are left straight with plenty extra for the use to cut and bend into the correct position depending tyre size and width in use.

Good news too that Mark's car passed with Saturn front wings and cycle wings on. Plenty of coverage with the 30 and 50 deg ruling, also people need to make sure that end of wing terminates within 150mm of the centre line of the wheel. Not a problem to do though.

Cheers.....AndyH

Daz,
205/45X17 are quite a bit bigger in diameter compared to 195/55X15 and you'd need to check they'll fit both the front and rear arches.
FYI:- 195/50X15 = diameter 22.68inch/576mm
205/45X17 = diameter 24.26inch/616mm
difference in diameter = 6.94%/ 40mm

Cheers for the replies,

I was worried about the size of the alloys, however, there was a table that compared various tyre sizes and that seemed to indicate that the actual size was basically the same as the original sierra wheels (obviously not width) and standing them side by side it seems to be correct.

I'm not far off putting the rear arches on so I'll soon find out. The arches are resting over the rear wheel now and all seems ok at the mo!

Just to clarify - Alloys 205/40/17, original sierra 185/65/14 came out near as damn it the same - just checked. Got my alloy tyres size wrong by 5.
