Default Transmission tunnel help

Hello all.
Have been doing research and im trying to work out what to do with the tunnel when i make the chassis. Seeing as there are quite a few sierras out there with MT75 gearbox;s should i just make the chassis to MT75 size reglardless of what donor i will eventualy get?
My question is... my endgame plan is to install a 13b engine and gearbox from a fc3s into the chassis i dont suppose anyone knows what tunnel size would be best to make this fit?

that looks a damn site smaller than a type 9. Is it in a standard width chassis? If so there is tons of room to spare with the standard tunnel dimensions. If you saw the size of an MT75 bellhousing you would see what I mean - it's huge.

Hi Eternal,

Its not easy to gauge from the photos but i reckon as that engine sits so far forward in the chassis I think you might be ok with a type 9 tranny tunnel, tho if you can get a width measurement around the bellhousing in line with the starter motor ( thats what i think it is ) I,d be able to give a more confirmed answer.

Also as i presume your car will be right hand drive then there is no reason why you couldn,t narrow the passenger footwell width a little, its plenty big enough as no pedals in there etc.

That way you wouldn,t lose "foot " space in the drivers footwell as you would if you fitted the MT75 tranny tunnel.

hth

cheers
andy

The other thing is it looks like a very short engine so could be made to sit further forward so the gearbox would be even narrower at the point it passes the forward trans tunnel tubes.

I really cant tell from the site listed most of it is just pics. i guess you can work it out from looking at the chassis steering support position but im not that used to the chassis to be able to tell. I do know that the rotarys generaly sit a little forward so maby thats it? I got to get this worked out as its my main plan so any help research would be great! lol

Edit: lol loads of replys in the space of 1 min!

I just tried to post a photo but it's too big so it gets rejected. PM me your email addy and I will send a photo of the MT75 sat in a modded trans tunnel. I think it will give you the answer you need.
