VW/AUDI engines
Hi everybody,
I have been looking at different engines for my car & have seen alot of the 1.8 turbos going on fleabay for not alot of money. I was wondering what gearboxes could be used with those. I would suspect alot of the engine parts would be coded to the car it came off. Has anybody used 1 ????? Good building.. |

You won't find an inline box from the VW stable.

If you can make an adaptor ring or cut and shut an ali or steel bell housing you should be able to mate any gear box to any engine. Don't forget that you don't have to use a ford gear box there are other rear wheel drive cars out there. BMW Mazda Vauxhall Nissan ect.

I suspect the cost of mating the box to the engine will negate the price benefit of the engine itself.

All the more reason to fit a bike engine as it has it's own neat gearbox and will make most car engined 7's look stupid away from the staging lights....ooops I meant trafffic lights

Yeah, if my Pinto should mysteriously stop working after IVA I'll be going the bike engined route me thinks.
Fancy a kwacker engine, always had an affinity for Kawasaki bikes and have worked loads on their engines. Got chance of an old ZZR1100 C2 model, low miles for a grand, but don't think I'll get much for the frame and bodywork for such an old model. Plus I don't have a spare grand!!!
