Default steering rack

hi guys, i know were suposed to use and escort rack, but i have a non power steering rack, and have managed to shorten the rack ineards by choppin and retapping the rack, and chopping the midle out of the tube itself and welding it back together, anyway my question is, is this ok to pass the iva??

I am going to stick my neck out on this one

If your rack looks like it has been chopped about, the IVA inspector is likeley to fail it !!??

On the other hand, if it has been done to a high standard & mounted correctly, it'll most likely pass.

The question I would ask is.........Are you sure that you have done the job safely & kept within the rack geometry requirements ??

This is a very safety critical component.....Make sure the jobs a good un.....Not worth risking your life to save a few quid
