Default Problem with my drums

Today i fitted my rear suspension. Wishbones, rear uprights and shocks -> everything ok. After that i mounted drum backplate, then put the drive shaft in and fasten with bolts -> so ,far so good. Then i put on the drum and fasten it with the weel nust. After that something is rubbing, because i hardly can turn my drum.
Does anyone had a problem like mine ?

Greetz,

Wim

If that makes sense?

Adrian
If you mean that we have to push the brakepads fully to the inside, and then put the drum on ? I think we've did that with no result, but i will give it a second try later this week.
Thanks for helping me out Adrian !

Wim

As Adrian says you need to reset the ratchet mechanism to the minimum to account for new shoes/drums.
this may help.

Hi Wim

Just to echo what others have said, you will need to adjust the handbrake ratchet to it's minimum adjustment .... If you are using the original adjusters, make sure that they are working freely & service them if needed.

Just to check with you, are the driveshafts turning freely before you fit the drums ? ( I am sure you said they were )

I doubt you have the handbrake cable fitted but if you do, make sure it is not over adjusted.

One last point ... Sometimes when new brake shoes are fitted, they will bind quite badly untill the hydraulic slave cylinder has been activated by the brake pedal ... This action will ensure that the brake shoes are centred correctly.
As Adrian has said, it'll sometimes help to centre the shoes a little if you tap the drum with a soft faced hammer ( Copper/hide )

I am sure all the shoes need is a bit of centering & bedding in ( More so, if the drum has a wear ridge )

Hi guy's
Didn't had much time to work at my roadster, but last weekend i did.
Found out that i made the rear lower wishbones to short .
Ordered new ones at 3GE, put them one, rebuild the back, adjust the ratchet like you told me, and no mre problems with my drums !
Result after last weekend: my roadster is on wheels !!! Jiehaa !
Now struggling with my engine mounts, but for now, i'm a verry happy man.
Pictures will follow next weekend.
Thank you all !!!

Wim.
