Default MX5 Hazard lights

I have a MK2 MX5 engine and loom. The head lights and side lights work but i cannot get the hazards to work.
All earth points are earthed. Fuse looks ok, but when hazard switch is pressed or indicator stalk is moved, there is nothing! not even a click from the flasher unit.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi Wain,

Have you tried plugging in the instrument cluster. I know that with the NA version they won't work unless you plug this in.

Hope this helps..

David

Thank you for your reply. I do have the cluster plugged in, when the headlights are on the icon illuminates on the cluster, but the indicator icon does not illuminate when indicating.

there is an earth lead for the cluster which comes out of the loom near the connectors. is this part earthed?

All earth points that i have found are earthed, i am confident this point is one of them.

I think there are grounding points that need to be connected under the dash for the indicators to work. I can check when I get home.

Cheers

Default Hazard lights

Thank you for checking. I am confident that everything that needs to be connected is connected, although i have noticed that there is only one wire connecting to the hazard fuse at one side ( brown with a white stripe). I have been told that it is internally routed within the fuse box, so where does the other end of the fuse terminate?

I got my wiring diagrams here.

http://www.mellens.net/mazda/

Helped out more than the Haynes Manual did.

Cheers

Default Hazard Lights

Thank you for the link, but i have already downloaded the wiring diagram for my loom and it looks the same. I will triple check the diagram again at weekend against the loom, but it looks like everything outlined in the diagram is connected.
