Question maxi ball joint info

Hi everyone just have a question or two I would like to go searching for some bits including the ball joints is there perhaps a alternative ball joint from a newer model car that will work cause in the book it show you can use one from a austin maxi but what if I can't find one from that car cause I'm not sure ill be able too find it

It would mean a re-design of the suspension and arms etc as the setup is for the parts listed in the book,does not mean it cant be done but will take a little sorting out.
You could use rose joints for ease.

Hi thanks but maybe I did not explain myself to good but what I mean is keeping the same design but finding a ball joint that will work

Understood Ricky,its something you will have to suss out by looking at different parts as maxi parts are older than time itself and as previously the lower plates were made to take the maxi joints.

Something like a golf lower joint may work,not sure what stuff is available as in variety of cars available here and in SA so it will be trial and error.

Thanks I understand what you saying and ill have to take at look at some but I would like to know something would you or anyone have the dimensions of this ball joints even the tip that part with the thread well the whole thing I guess :-)

Found the shape of this BMW mini 1 ball joint interesting, might be worth finding out how big the tapper is?

Thanks a lot for that info I will look into that but if I really really can't find one then I guess ill get one from the uk. I did find a post from someone on this forum that posted the links to those parts so will see what happens

Mmm I have decided to use the bearing idea but still need to use the part with triangle from the bush kit but I'm thinking to make my own one out of acetal. Why ?

You need to be careful with ball joints that the design is correct for the loads applied to it. Ricky, there is an alternative, I'll email you over the weekend with some info.
