Started on the peddal box

Are you planning to have what looks like the brass top hats pivot on the bolts or will the steel sleeve rotate around the brass bushes like a crush tube? The reason I ask is if you've made it all to size theres a chance it will become one solid lump,how ever if the brass top hats are 0.2-0.3mm each over long the steel sleeve will still rotate when the bolt is done up tight.

All bases covered with that Phil I have got clearance so that they rotate without binding

Hi,
I've been away from the forum the last two weeks, I was in France visiting family, friends (and work). I'm very glad Arfon is building "my" pedal box, it is the third one!

Arf, your pedals look great and I like the brass top hat bushes. It looks like you're actually having a lot of fun with your new toys! Looking forward to see the finished pedal box

Deanno (who unfortunately had to sell his car since) used this design too, and replaced the welded M6 nut holding the forward stop bolts with M6 tapped 3mm plate. Looks tougher:

JPS, the back plate of my design has the same dimensions as the one from the book, and this pedal box will fit exactly in the same way. You can check in the guide linked above.

I don't say this design is better than the one from the book, it is just different and allows to use leftovers of round and square section tubes from the chassis, avoiding to cut the uneasy shapes of the pedal shafts (or the need to laser cut or buy them), using 5mm plates (as the 3mm plates are too weak for a pedal shaft, it has been said many times on this forum).

Just looked at your pedal box design Sylvian, fantastic work there my friend...
I must also say your instructions are top quality and should be seriously considered by anybody building a Haynes Roadster....
Just looking at what Arfon has done with your design is testament enough.
I guess Arfon you have been putting your new equipment to use, top quality work there buddy
