Default shocks

Just a query regarding shocks,i know certain aspects have been covered before but my question is regarding shock length.
Are the shocks 13" open + 1 inch extension making them 14" or
13" open including the 1" extension?
My interpretation is they are 13" open incl the 1" extension, only ask as have shocks supplied by OBP which are 14" eye to eye they do have the 1" ext, OBP are insistent they are correct and i dont think so.The box unfortunately does not have the part numbers on.
I note that on Saturn cars website they list them as 13".

Hi ozzy1

The shocks should be 13" open & 9" closed

It was found that after road testing the proto-type the Roadster could benefit from a little more ride height.
This was achieved by the addition of 1" extensions on the top of the shock.

This gave 1" of extra ride height whilst still maintiaing the full range of damping action of the shock.

To sumarise....... 13" open length + 1" extension ....... 14" eye to eye overall length.

It looks as if your OBP shocks are fine & to the correct spec

Ronnie is spot on there Oz, shocks should be 13" with a 1" top hat extension and 1.9" id.

I've made up the dummy shocks which are 13" between centres, can anyone confirm if this is correct. Looking at the car it would seem to be riding a bit high. Unfortunately my garage floor is a shade uneven so its difficult to measure it.

Cheers

Peter

You could try them first Squbti, the 1" top hat was added to the original 13" dampers just to increase the ride height. You will probably find that the car is too low.

Kevin at Protech Shocks would add 1" top hats to the dampers for a small fee, assuming they are protech though i'm sure Gaz would do the same.
