Good question Twinturbo,
I too am planning on fitting a windscreen however, 'The Book' method of sourcing the windscreen is no longer possible with the IVA requirement for the glass to be appropriately marked. Since my build isn't underway yet (all though immenet) I was hoping that a supplier might have started supplieing winscreens by the time my build is at that state. Like you though I would like to know if anyt one has fitted a windscreen, perhaps one from a 7 type kit car might fit but it's probably unlikely since the scuttle profiles are bound to be different. eSteve |

This is how I fitted my half screen last year.
Used some 3mm alloy plate cut and bent to shape. Would think you just make it a bit longer for a full screen. I made up my new screen suround as per instructions in the book

DogWood,
that looks neat and tidy, good job. Is that low enough to count as an aeroscreen? How high is it from the scuttle? Where did you source it from? |

The problem with making wind screens for the roadster is that it depends on who has made the scuttle. If you have made your own how different is it from any other you can buy from the various body work suppliers. SVA test for the glass is the same for the IVA ie it needs to be laminated and kite marked. You can get the correct glass from any commercial glaziers as it's used in some shop windows and jewellers counters as safty glass. The ali channel frame can be made by using the method in the book using the former. Any way what do you want a screen for, It's not very hard core is it? Might as well go buy a MGF lol

But it is defo low enough to be an aero screen, and ya can hucker down behind it if it turns orrid. I got it made at my local glass supplier. It's toughened glass though, rather than laminated. Took him in a template. cost me £18.

Is perspex/polycarbonate acceptable as opposed to kitemarked glass?
