Hi Richard......another nerd eh (north east roadster dude) welcome to the forum I'm a nerd too (Wingate) they do crop up here from time to time, keep an eye on ebay, gumtree and pistonheads classifieds get a start on your chassis while your waiting for one to crop up (if you havn't already).

There's a silver sapphire on ebay in newcastle at the moment.

Very suitable.

There's one in Wakefield which may be better, 1.8 cvh rather than 1.6 pinto. Asking £300 though with 4 days to go and reserve not met.

Mx-5 might be better......

Welcome to the forum to for another NE builder.

Andrew

Question Re flat pack kits

Hello Andy

Have you still got those flat pack kits on offer?

What exactly do you get in the kit?

Are they cold cut?

How much would I be owing you?

Whats the difference in the alloy back tub and GRP back tub designs?

Ano ano so many questions, would appreciate even some answered though if possible.

Many thanks

Richard

Hi Richard,

I,ll answer each question in order asked

1) Yes my chassis kits are still available, each is made to order & takes a couple of days from time of order being placed to the kit being ready for despatch or collection in person.

2) Kit contains all the following
U1 to U8, BR1 to BR12, A Fully Welded Front Frame, TR1 to TR9, D1 to D13, SB1 to SB6, RS1 to RS15, SW1 to SW3, TT1 to TT12 & either the RP1 to RP3 to accept the ali rear tub or the GRP1 to GRP2 parts to accept a GRP rear tub. ( Basically, everything needed to make the main frame of the chassis apart from the "CP" plates, which are available from Saturn Sports Cars )
Also in the kit is "spare steel" cut to the longest length needed in the 2 different sizes of box tube used, this is in case a mistake is made during welding the kit together allowing the builder to remake the part etc.
All parts supplied are cut to book spec dimensions with the angles cut at each end, All compound mitre cuts are also done on the parts that need them, each part of the kit has its I.D. part code written on the tube & also the angle of cut identified at each end which makes for easy orientation of each piece as you build the chassis kit using the book instructions.

3)Yes, the kits are cold cut.

4)The kits are on my Ebay listing at £220 plus delivery ( collection in person also available) , but am happy to supply the kit to a forum member for £200 ( plus delivery if required ).

5)The difference between the book spec ali rear tub framework & the GRP framework is............ The GRP rear tub is sort of self supporting in its fixing points to the chassis & so does not require the round tubes RP1 & RP2 as the ali tub requires.
The parts for the GRP rear tub are basically 3 lengths of box tube that are welded to RS14 so that the lower part of the GRP tub can be attached to the chassis ( the tub is also fastened to the chassis to parts D11, D9 & D10 ), it just doesn,t need the upper support frame that the book spec ali tub needs).

No problems with your questions, ask as many as you wish , more than happy to help.

As you appear to be based in the North East, why don,t you come to the Saturn Sports Cars unit in Hartlepool on saturday morning, meet Spud ( owner of Saturn) & myself, & if the weather is kind go for a spin in the Saturn demonstrator Roadster & generally come & "Talk Roadster"....more than welcome

Any questions, just shout

cheers
andy
