Default welding

Hi, can anyone give me some advice on what to look for when buying a welder and where to buy from.

Buy the best you can afford, duty cycle on cheap migs isn't great. Ie: how long it will maintain max amps.
Ideally you are after 180amp welder(about the biggest you get on single phase) as you won't be using it near it's max amps so it will perform better for longer.
Try and get a machine with a euro torch ie removable as these have steel liners so allow lead to still work in awkward angles etc. The cheap migs with fixed torches are a complete pain in the 'arris as only really work with the lead straight and any sign of a kink will grip the wire and play havoc with wire feed.

Dont buy a cheap chinese one as the wire feed on them is Shite.
Do a search under welding and buying a welder and read the posts.
