Ford wiring diagrams?
In various searches I have found talk of mystical Ford wiring diagrams which may be easier to understand than the haynes diagrams.
Does anyone have a copy of these on their computer that they could send me by any chance? Trying to fathom out what I can get rid of from the donor sierra fusebox. Cheers Russ |

You could identify what you dont want in the way of wiring like all the interior lights,wiper/washer stuff ect and chase it back to the board . You then will know what to cut out without the need for a diagram. Just thoughts.

Bob,
I've removed most of the obvious stuff but trying to eliminate some of the extra unwanted relays etc so I can do away with the actual fusebox and just keep the relays and fuses that i need. Sure I've read on here somewhere that some of the relays are linked together hence the enquiry about diagrams. Cheers for the suggestion Russ |

I was doing this last night (started when I first stripped the car 3 years ago)
The haynes diagrams arn't too hard to work out. There is a page with a list of each individual component that coresponds to a grid reference of the location on the wiring diagram. Start with the fuses that you dont need, cut out the non live side first. Then remove the wires from the empty relay holders (some have a common live/earth). I also cut out the wiper motor socket and wiper stalk socket to remove some wires.(If your not having wipers) I found it easy to cross reference with the actual sierra hand book (page 95/96) and the haynes manual. By combining a couple of fuses and keeping the cigar lighter cable just as an extra I got it down to 12 fuses. |

Steve,
Presuming I need to wait till I have the battery etc connected to do as you say? Is there an obvious code to the wires on the relays? i.e certain colour for the common live wires? Cheers Russ |

Kinda, to be annoying brown is earth (-ve) red is live (permanent) and black is switched live.
After that there all mixed up. Black with a purple (violet in Haynes book) stripe is for the wiper motor (or is on my car) Do you have a Haynes manual?? Last edited by SeriesLandy : 27th November 2011 at 06:03 PM. |
