Default laser cutting chassis plates

I want to get some chassis plates laser cut ....I know there are a few places that sell the kits already but my problem is the postage cost from the uk to Thailand .

So my question is what do I need to take to a laser cutter to make the plates ?

For any CNC cutting you must source CAD files of the plates. One version can be found in this thread http://www.haynes.co.uk/forums/showt...ight=cad+files.

Basically yes!
Although my advice is to source some CAD viewing software at first, and review the content of these files. So you can check the files and choose the details you want to order.

I just received the quote for the chassis plates

all 3mm plates including shock mounts, wishbone mounts ,pedal box, rear upright parts ,wing stays and wishbone bracket jig
as well as the parts cp11 cp16 cp16a and cp17 for the costly sum of £116.00

the 5mm plates cp10 ,ds1 ,ds2 and lower wishbone plates for £26.00

The 10 mm plates RU7 and RU8 £31.00

that is with all holes drilled the wish bone and shock brackets are not bent

I think that is not a bad price in all.

I think it is a pretty good price. Are you going to have them locally made, or sent from Europe?

Also can't you get the shock and wishbones brackets bent? It will save you a lot of unpleasant work, and if you mess one doinf it yourself, there is no second chance if you ordered the exact amount of brackets. Personally, I wouldn't have liked to do it myself, and I was happy the brackets came already bent.

But it just my opinion of course...

Good luck

I am getting them done locally well 200 km away ,I take your point about the wishbone mounts etc but with the language barrier it would be better to do it myself Thais are not known for their quality workmanship and also they would expect me to pay for their cock ups as well.

I will make a bending jig up and take my time.

What do you reckon hot or cold bend them ?

I haven't got around to doing my suspension brackets yet but as the inner dimension is 44mm I'm going to use some 50x50x3 shs as this will save me folding them
