Tunnel width for mx5 gearbox
Does anyone know if the width of the tunnel needs changing for mx5 gearbox?
I came up with a plan for the 2.0 Duratec. Right as you will probably know its a mazda engine... so it got me thinking will the mx5 gearbox fit it?? So after a bit of seaching on ebay it looks to be a similar shaped bolt pattern for mx5 gearbox and the gearboxes that fit the duratec. I have not been able to get any measurements but it was just an idea at the moment. |

Hi
Yes, I am building with an MX5 donor. The tunnel needs a little modification to the profile as well as the dimensions, in other words it is fatter at the front but thinner at the rear. Also you might get some issues with clearance of the hydraulic clutch actuator if you don't factor this in early. If nobody else has replied by the time I get in tonight I'll measure up and draw my changes - in the meantime check out my build site http://www.mx5-locost.co.uk Matt |

So far it looks like a goer to use mx5 gearbox from reading other post on mx-5 and other mazda forums.
That would save making and adaptor for MT75 but still need to mod the tunnel |
