Default Electrolytic derusting

Hi guy's
I want to derust my front uprights via electrolytic way. I allready prepared tub and stuff. Just want to know, can i put these uprights in one piece in the tub or should i disassemble it and remove the bearing ?

Personally i would dis-assemble them as it makes it easier to inspect how effective the derusting has been and you can then repack the bearings with new grease easier.Also it makes spraying the uprights easier as you will be able to get into all the tight spots.

I took my uprights off the sierra damper/shock unit and just put them in whole. Was using quite a low power battery charger however and it took about 4 days. Bit of wire brushing and they came out lovely! Photos of it all are in my build diary... happy de-rusting!

Hello wim,


The subject of electrolytical derusting has been covered several times in yhe past, also on the locostbuilders.com forum.
I think at one point, someone mentioned that the cover domes are not easy to get hold of. So I would suggest you make sure that you have all the right bits before disassembling.

Your friendly Ford dealer can still supply, at a cost. I'm sure I have the part number somewhere if you are stuck.
