Default Steering column

I'm keen to avoid adding a third UJ on the column assembly and I've found that I can just skew the steering wheel and column a bit to get enough clearance from the engine and to get the angle above the IVA minimum 10 degrees.

Does anyone know of any reason not to do this? It actually puts the steering wheel more central and I can't see that it would make a noticeable difference in the finished car.

Also, what is a safe clearance?

i might also use the Saturn approach and cut into the ali support.

Thoughts?
