Default IVA Passed today

Well after some minor drama with water leaks and air locks last night the car was loaded onto a trailer ready for the trip to VOSA this morning for an 8am inspection, Ian the tester was great allowing me to add little bits of trim and zip ties as required (not alot to be honest) before we hit a couple of potentially disaterous snags, my wing stays were too close to the brake caliper unions, easily sorted with the loan of a grinder from a nearby welding firm and the one i thought would stop us dead was the head lamps i brought from Rally Design were dipping to the wrong side! no adjustment on the lamps left me sunk until the tester said he was going for lunch and if I could have them sorted before he got back then the car would pass.

frantic post on Locostbuilders yielded nothing, Kit parts direct were the perfect solution however they are closed thursdays!! a call to Mike of Road Runner Racing yielded a pair of loan lamps! Over I went collected them and fitted them intime for a clean bill of health! 1 Pass sheet!.

Id like to say that I couldnt have finished my build without the help of Andy and Noel @ Saturn and the keen eye (and edge trim) Of HandyAndy. Thanks Guys

Here are some finished Photos.

Thumbs up Well done...

Carl,

a great achievement. You must be grinning from ear to ear.

To help other builders;
  • What were the head lamps from Rally Design that would have caused a fail?
  • How close were the wing stays to the brake caliper union?
Nice looking build, well done.

Thanks guys, they were the dominator type lamps i will be speaking to rally design about them it could be aone off so dont bouycot a good company just because of one foul up.

the wing stays were about 10 mm away and could have done with double that we just cut a notch into them and welded the into a web to regain the strength

first of all congratulations, a vary nice looking car you have built there!!! Bravo

i had the dominator H/L's when i went threw IVA didnt get mine from rally design but they are basicly the same, all i hade to do was rotate the filter on them to make them have a left kick rarther than a flat beem. what was it that your tester didnt like about them??

once again well done !!!

The headlamps from RD had a notch in the bottom of the lense and casing to prevent them being rotated and olny one screw hole and one clip opposite it to hold them in so no adjustment :$

thanks guys take a read of my other post RE Saturn in the General discussion area, I feel I didnt do them justice with my post last night they put alot of hard work into helping me finish my build.
