Default volvo m47

Hey all

Did anyone has experience in using volvo m47 gearbox for the locost? as far as i know they are stock 740 gearboxes also used with turboed engines so should handle much more than typical type 9 gearbox (I suppose). from graph it has separate bellhousing which should also be usefull when adopting to other engine than volvo : http://www.volvopartswebstore.com/im...e/GR-43648.jpg

Would be useful behind a redblock, but you may as well put a B/W T5 behind a ford engine with more power.

An M90 Volvo box and a B4xxx or B5xxx white block would be gr8 if the M90 was more common.

Well T5 is almost impossible to get in Poland for resonable money, wheres volvo m47 and m90 is easy to buy for good $$. I had today an idea of using volvo engine/transmission due to the fact that i am looking for or the parts and trying to decide. If i am gonna build locost i would like to build something that can run fast hence 160 hp+. Mx5 diff and uprights are good options but to get whole mx5 as donor here is quite expensive.

Maybe someone have dimensions of the B230ET engine (2.3 turbo from 740/760)?

A B4194T from a volvo V40 T4 with an M90 will give you good power, potential and the bottom end is very very strong.

I wish B4194T was much cheaper, hence the B230 or B200 is more in the range. B230 had around 170 hp coz its turbo as well but SOHC. Guys in Sweden tune those SOHC up to 400hp insane..

Seems you have it good AND bad. T4 motor is easy to get fairly cheap here, M90 is like gold dust.
