Warning lights

Hi all,
I'm using the original MX5 instrument cluster which incorporates the required warning lights but I'm using new press button switches for the "Hazard" and "Rear fog" lights.
Is it OK for me to wire my press button switches to illuminate when the lights are on and use the MX5 dash warning lights to show when they are switched....
Also will the colour of the switches be an issue if the dash warning lights are illuminated showing the correct colour.
