Default Zetec Uprated Clutch (ebay) - Any good?

I recently won the auction for a zetec sports clutch from ebay for £62 delivered. It is brand new but has no details about it.

Before I pay for it could anyone tell me if they think it is decent and worth a punt?

For the money seems pretty good.Cheapest at burton power is about 95quid.Only problem i can see is it doesnt give the manufacturer which makes it hard to get any info, but the ad does say it is an uprated sports clutch, but do you intend to tune the engine etc or leave standard?

It looks like a standard one with red paint on it, not a 100% sure about that though!

I have never seen a clutch with coloured fingers and springs before, even performance ones that are coloured the fingers and springs arent usually coloured too

I stand to be corrected though

Simon there are three types of clutch, standard and uprated/competition and remanufactured crap.

Ask the seller what make it is and if he cant answer the question dont waste your money.

theres one particular company on ebay that sells standard clutched just painted red as uprated. i cant recall the name of them but this looks like one of them ...... i would only buy uprated kit from reputable sellers yes you pay for it but you get what you pay for.

it looks here like what you pay for is standard crap painted red
just my two cents and experience i nearly bought a clutch from the company but read up on them and went standard as the engine was pulling a hell of alot less weight than it was supposed to be......

ive also had a mate fit an uprated clutch to his car for the clutch to fail immediatly .... not bad fitting or any mistakes the company replaced the clutch and covered cost of refitting the new one so for peace of mind id buy from the reputable seller or a local motor factor.

I emailed the seller asking for a manufacturer and size of the clutch. He sent a very short message back saying it fit fine in his mondeo but he has sold his mondeo now.

Safe to say I wont be buying it and will most likely just get one from Ford. At least then I know it is a good quality part and I wont need to replace it at any point.

Nice one Simon,

Or get one from a local Motor factor that knows part numbers etc & if its supplied wrong you can take it back etc.

Good call

cheers
