Clutches
Does anyone have any ideas what other clutches and clutch plates etc, can be used with various flywheels? For my engine choice the selection is pretty limited. I could bang a 1.8 cvh clutch on, but would that take the 150 bhp from the engine? Or do other clutches fit on the flywheel?

The 1800 cvh clutch should be ok, dont forget the donnor car weighed twice as much as the roadster and could still pull some thing it's own weight as well. It should have no problem with half the weight and more power.
I stand to be corrected of course.......

Hi, what engine are you using?

I'm using a RS2000 16v engine. A tuned version of the Sierra DOHC. The original flywheel is massive and the clutch plate fulcrum is in a different place. Thats why I wanted to use the smaller CVH flywheel. But then its clutch is designed for a car producing half the power.
The cvh clutch is 215mm. Now I'm not sure if I could just get a 23 spline 215mm clutch plate to go in, or if I'd have to change the clutch cover? |

if you look at the burtons site theres a gearbox page it lists the size and no of splines for the input shafts thats a good place to start
will the cvh flywheel fit the crank ? if so you could possibly use an rs turbo clutch series 1 is 200mm and series 2 is 220mm i beleive again look at the burtons catalogue i redrilled a series 1 flywheel to take a series 2 clutch a few years ago as burtons recomended it and yes that twincam flywheel is enormous one of the reasons im not using the twincam engine Ray |

The clutch diameter is the same size as a Pinto. So I could always get an uprated AP clutch for £50. But will that be compatible with the 1.8 clutch cover plate?
I'm just not sure how freely you can change parts over on a clutch. |
