Default Would this work?

hello

im wanting to use a zetec 2.0 engine for my car but i also want an age related plate if i can so iv had an idea

would i be able to buy a sierra and a zetec engine with all the gubbins that goes with it... now heres the genius part... then re-register it with a zetec 2.0 engine in it? will i actualy have to put the engine in the car or would i just be able to tell them i have? then i should get the age related plate aslong as i keep all the paper work and wot'not.

also what gearbox would people suggest for use with a zetec engine? baring in mind i will eventualy do some 'light' tuning to the engine.

Cheers

Jake

I think its even stricter than that now. December Kitcar magazine say that VOSA now only accept the original engine for the donor when using the V5 to prove engine age. However as its the DVLA that dish out the reg number, I'm not sure. However if your using everything but the engine, you'll probably get away with it.

i see, putting the engine in the sierra is no biggie its just linking it all up thats a pain.

so i can just plonk it in (rested on some bits of wood or somthing of the sort) take a couple of piccys and back out we come or will they want pics of all the connections for the cooling and wot'not? (to prove i havnt just done what i just said i would do)

i have no clue when it comes to gearboxes. they only one i have ever done work on was a classic mini gearbox which was simple as mini's are. can anyone elaborate on the Type 9 or MT75 boxes?

Here's what I'd do mate if the engine in the sierra is ok. Or if you haven't brought the sierra yet...... buy one with a cvh engine.

Build the roadster with the cvh in SVA it then change the engine after. well thats what I'm doing. Hopefully with bike carbs too

I dont know anything bout swapping the zetec into the sierra but I think it would have to be done fully up and running. Do they need to inspect it aswell?
