im going to be making a custom full cage and windscreen surround that will be attached to the scuttle so it wont work with fiberglass, dont really care bout weight not planning on going on many track days if any at all

It's not a difficult thing to make although it is a difficult thing to make look good. It's easier to do if you have a tube type bender for some nice curves and some way of cutting steel sheet straight. Just fill any minor dents or ground down welds with filler.

You could always bond a steel doubler on the inside of a fibre glass scuttle to give it further strength, it's suprising how strong they are out of the box. I agree with what Talon has said home made body work is hard work and one bad panel could let the whole car down. Just my two pennys

Even if the scuttle was made of steel, it would not be strong enough to anchor a cage to. A roll cage needs to be anchored to the chassis and not the body work, it would be useless, unless the steel was about 5mm thick

the scuttle would be bolted or welded to the chassis nd the rollcage is for looks really not race, its not gonna looks like a full caterham cage with bars everywhere
