3GE Mushrooms
Hi all,
I have read several times that the 3GE mushrooms don't always fit the transit drag links (not enough thread to put the nyloc on), and have now found that out myself. So just wondered if anyone could or knew somewhere that I could get them modified? Thanks |

Yeah I had this problem also,
Another problem might be that the "top bit" isnt tall enough and depending on which drag links you use, can ristrict movement. All in all, ive come to think they are a pretty shabbily made part, and not what you would expect when your paying a premium for parts. Rant over. I acutally got a mate who was local to me, who put them in the lathe and took them down far enough to get the nyloc on. That or take it to your local engineering shop, tell them abit about what your doing, it will probably interest them, and they might do it for a contribution to the biscuit tin! HTH Jas

I went to my parents neighbour who has a lathe but said it was too small a lathe to turn them down.
I ended up using his mill to take the inside down around 10mm. |

Does your carer know you have escaped again
The depth of the taper varies with manufacturers and this causes problems, had two from different suppliers one fitted the other did not, reamed it to fit.

I agree
What happened to the uprights from your man ? Ginetta G20 ones look near for the haynes. Taper length varies although it should not.

i would say the 3ge ones are well made better job than i could have done not haveing a cnc or lathe in my garage the problem is the draglinks on the market very slightly (i know i had 2 diffrent makes) fine for use on an old mk1 transit as a drag link but you have to remember we are not using it for its designed use
i have 3ge mushrooms and qh draglinks and i had to ream my taperd hole just a very small amount with the reamer i used for the sierra uprights to fit maxi ball joints and then shave a bit of the hight to suit the link only about 1mm must have taken me all of 20 mins to do the pair |

Thanks guys for the replys will have another look and may have a word with a local engineering shop and see what they can do. In terms of 3ge I have found all of there other parts of excellent quality definitly far better than I could have managed.
