Have you checked that your therostat opens?

Have you checked for airlocks?

sorry for the delay in posting these pics, had a prob with my camera

first pic shows the expansion bottle location & the hoses from the water pump exit

2nd pic shows the bottom hose route

3rd pic shows the top hose from the thermostat housing

I hope the pics help, this I,m sure isn,t the only way to route the hoses , but how I did mine
Please excuse the various wires in the photos, I was doing some wiring when I took the pics.

cheers

Ah, what I thought was where the thermostat would go on my Polo Rad, is actually where the fan temperature switch goes Got to love the internet.

Hi Andy, Thanks for the pics. I have done my top hose pretty much the same, but have tee'd in the pipe that should go to the expansion tank. Where you have placed the tank looks much better. Am I correct in thinking the outlet from the expansion tank joins the Tee that connects to the engine block and auto choke? Your bottom hose route appears similar to mine, but where does the other end of the pipework go, I cant see in the pics. Does it connect to the steel pipe leading into the engine block?
Thanks again for this, off out now to re mount my expansion tank

no prob, glad the pics help.

The bottom outlet of the expansion tank is connected to the "T" piece that is then connected to the water pump elbow on the passenger side of engine, the top "overflow" point at the expansion tank is connected to the auto choke/thermostat housing.

I,ll get some more clearer pics today & post them up.

cheers

Hi, cheers Andy. Ive got the expansion tank thing clear now, just curious the path the lower radiator hose takes. Im thinking it connects to the water pump pipe?
I'll post a couple of pics later of my current set up that doesnt work!

Pics of hose route to bottom of radiator. Water won't pass through the long horizontal pipe..could it be an air lock causing this?
