MX5 donor based chassis for the Roadster
Found this on the net. Quite interesting now that Sierra bits are getting scarse.

Keep up at the back
That website belongs to one of the forum members on here.
Goes by the username of voodoo or is it airhead !!?? .... No I think it is voodoo at the moment. Still see a fair few Sierras on the Road in this neck of the woods & often see them in the local breakers yards, strange thing is they often go through the crusher more or less intact, no one in this neck of the wood seems to want any of the major donor components I guess we will not lament the lack of Sierra donors once Andrew at Saturn Sports Cars has written the new edition of the Haynes Roadster book, that will be based on using an MX5 donor car. Dont worry if you can't wait for the new haynes book, you can download the plans from Saturn now No pressure on you Andrew, I know you have to complete the Single seater book first

No need to lament the lack of Ford donors now, the plans effectively change the existing instructions to suit.
If you want a chat about any elements of the coversion my number is on the site. Matt |

just my thoughts
although the mazda is a fantastic donor... and i can see nothing wrong at all with it... i wish somebody would do the specs for putting the bmw into the haynes. the 2.0l bmw motor is just so sweet and pulls like a train. could be a lot of fun and a bit less gear changing when its luggin a couple of Cornish pasty eaters around cheers les g. ps . i know gkd do the legend pps. wait for Fabby to come along and say it would have to be the size of a luego to get all the fat beemer bits and me in it... |

Funny that you should say that BMW parts are a possible way forward......
One problem I can see with using 3 series is the front up right , it's massive. I've been thinking about producing replacement front hubs so that beamer stud patterns can be used on MX5 uprights.

Talking of handling Mark, how are the fabricated front uprights coming along or has it ground to a halt?
