Depends on how much money you want to spend or how long you want to spend looking for the right bits. Saab lumps are basicly Vauxhall engine blocks so Carlton, Senata and Manta gear boxes will fit. You might be able find a Vauxhall to Ford bell housing at the right price or just buy a new one if your feeling flush. The other option is to make an adaptor ring to suit, how ever if you use a type 9 bell housing in either steel or ali you could directly modify it and weld straight on to it.

you want a b204 or b234 engine coupled to a vauxhall omega box ideally off a 3.0v6 as it is stronger than the ones off the other models.

you keep the standard saab clutch flywheel and starter but use the omega hydraulic slave cylinder inside the gearbox mounted on a 23mm spacer so it reaches the saab clutch. you will also need an opel manta gearbox spigot bearing to knock into the end of the saab crank or you will kill the input shaft bearings on the omega box.

simple as that realy
