Default Suspension brackets

I know the general consencus is "buy them" but i had some 40mm box section laying around.

I cut the seemed face off, Doesnt look like there will be alot of meat from the hole to the brackets edge. im thinking its because of the sloped edges of the box. Has anyone else done it this way, do you have to buy square edge section?

Cheers Will

Its always nice to make them yourself but its time verses money i think and when they are only 1.50 each i bought them.

If you had some 80x40 box section laying around you can make them from that. I did, and you don't have the the problem you are having because of the radius on the corners. You do however throw away as much of the box as you use.

I know what you all mean about buying them. At the minute, im willing to put time in to save money though!

Id read on here about chopping the welded face off 40 & 50mm box section, drill the holes and hey presto! May not be the case afterall

I won't tell you how long it takes us to bend a laser cut blank on the fly press then if it takes a whole weekend to produce a set from box section

And for those who brought them we can do 200 in an hour

I used flat bar not box section, it wasnt laser cut and i had to make a device to allow the two bends to be done accurately, so in a weekend it wasnt too bad!!

Thats why i always say just buy them, if i had went to work for the weekend instead i could of bought about 10 sets for the same ammount of time working

And if you can make £3000 worth of suspension brackets in a day you need to sell em cheaper

I've used 40 and 50mm box section, as someone said cut the welded part off withing the upright part and radius off.

Thanks for all the help again guys, i think i mixed myself up a wee bit. 27mm to the hole centre leaves plenty of material. think i might have looked at the 50mm bracket hole centre dimension

Thanks again Will
