Default Brakes Problems

it would apeer that ash and myself are in a similar boat though i think i have found the problem a wheeping seep around the brake push rod

i have posted a pic of the master cylinder if someone can conferm its origin i think its sierra but having not got a doner car as such i cannot garentee it

i just keep getting air out of the bleed screws after putting litre after litre of oil threw it and there are no leaks at any joints as far as i can tell so i think it must the the seel around the plunger....your thoughts???

That looks the same as mine, which came from a sierra donor that flyerncle & i stripped.

As Spud has mentioned on Ash,s brake thread, he found the seal (closest to the pedal box) between the resevoir & the M/C was weeping, very very slightly, swapped it for the one from my donor solved the problem.

I believe you can get a seal kit to replace all the seals , tho a new M/C can be bought for about £30 if speed is the essence.

cheers

Who stripped it ?

See you 2moro

Problem with seal kit is bore may be rusty/scored due to water in fluid through lack of fluid changes

i,ve just been re checking & found this one aswell, its for a bendix fitting, which looks the same as mine, item number 190368716132

i think this is more likely to be the one you need.

i typed into the search for a "sierra master cylinder " & a few came up.

hope this helps.
cheers

Most sierra Calipers are ATE Teves, but that may have no bearing on the master cylinder.
