Default Excelent. Job Almost Jobbed.

Well I have been putting this one off for a couple of weeks. well 4-5...

My Wifes ( although she seems to drive my Galaxy more) daily is now a Volvo V40 (1.8S My2000). It came from my brother in law and had the following issues.

1) ARB Bushes
2) Gear Selection Stiff
3) Paintwork Faded
4) Speaker Blown and all generaly poor ( although once would have been good)

1) I started this and spent 8hrs not managing to finish 1!, my neighbours son runs the garage in my Siggy. He said I must be doing something wrong and to pop it in and he would sort it. He never wants to see another V40 ARB Bush again LOL!!!

2) Bush kit helped a bit, but a clutch bleed sorted it. Brother in law had lived with the almost impossible shift for 2 years!

3) Clay, paint restore, polish, polish, wax.. Sorted.

4) Todays Job
1 Replace front speakers with New Infinity Reference 2way 13Cm Components.
2 Replace rear speakers with ancient good Macrom 56.10 2way 4" Components ( well I have only got the mid base in so far. tweeters to do)

3/4 To do, remove feed to volvo Sub . Run amp wire and sub feed for 15" Sub.

Well so far the sound is brilliant, the improvement over the stock volvo stuff is fantastic. The mid bass form the Infinity's is well controled and the trebble is clear and un muddled. All round the sound is tight and crisp and good at volume. The old Macroms always were good for their size.

As always the head unit is strugling for juice to keep the display stable! There is possibly just enough space to tuck an amp behind the dash centre console with a good power feed..

Quite happy, it's a very long time since I realy botherd with ICE..

I need a good new head unit that has USB so I can hook up my 5000 tracks of MP3 ( ripped of my CDs 2 weeks ago). I put in a nice Clarion CZ500 in the Bro IL van as part of payment for the volvo and it seemed a good unit, will have to see what he thinks after a few weeks use.

TT
