cvh engine mounts
Hello,
Does anyone have any pictures or drawings of the mods needed fro engine mounts on a cvh? I am pretty sure I read you can not use book spec mounts but I can't seem to find any pictures or anything here. Cheers, Ryan. I made my engine mountings by placing the engine in situ & the making up the mount to bridge the gap if you see what I mean, I originally did this to suit the Ford mountings but when I found out how much they cost to replace if they fail ( about £80 each I think ), I modified them to suit Landrover V8 mountings which are about £3 each. I did the same,
dropped engine in, propped it up and made this for drivers side, you can use the original sierra one for the other side. Just make sure it doesn't foul the steering column/shaft.

I have remade my engine mounts similar to the ones Ginge has made,
Daddy A....... i hope you don,t mind me asking.....but would the way you have made your drivers side mount cause stress onto the rubber mount threaded bolt as its horizontal to the engine? I thought that by giving it a slight sloping downwards position from the engine would give a stronger mount, or am I barking up a wrong tree? cheers andy

Ryan,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, we had a ‘bring a boss’ do last night and every thing is still a little fuzzy!! I made my mounts by getting the engine and gearbox in the correct position then measuring the gap that needed to be bridged. I am more than happy to take all the measurements you want but I would imagine it would be easier to make them as described. Let me know what you are after and I will measure this evening, once I have made up with SWMBO! Cheers Ginge

I,m not questioning the way you have done it, more a case of questioning my own thought process of my mounts.  cheers andy

No worries Andy,
i'm sure all roadsters being built will be different and we've all got our ideas. The amount of different ways I come up with and then think sod it, i'll just make it and see what it turns out like. Hopefully it wil do the job a treat until an up grade post iva can be sorted.

Depending on the rotation of the engine one mounting will be in compresion and the other in tension and to my way of thinking something at 90 degrees to the angle of the stress may tend to bend other than a mounting at a more acute angle like the orignal places the force more vertical.
Hope the above makes some sense ! Looking back at Daz's picture I dont think it will bend.
