Exhaust Paste
I'm just wondering if anyone can describe a bit how this stuff works? I'm planning on using the cheap flexible exhaust tubing to go from my manifold down to the silencer to get me thru IVA & until I can afford to have a nice stainless system made up. So I'm thinking using some of this exhaust paste along with some jubliee clips to join the flexible hose onto the manifold and silencer. Will this hold up ok and further down the road what is the paste like to get off?

You wont get a hubert lee clip on the spiral wound flexi pipe to grip. You will need to wrap some thin guage steel round the section you want to clamp on and use a normal exhaust clamp. I suppose you would have to round off all the edges of the clamp and pipe to get it through iva.

The exhaust paste I got from Halfords, expands when heated. So I smeared it on, once the exhaust got warm, it sealed up wonderfully.
My stainless exhaust was off a Pinto kit car, (Right hand exit) and my RS2000 16v is a left hand exit. So I chopped it with an angle grinder, flipped it over, loads more chopping and modifying and it works a treat. So you can just get one thats suitable for a kitcar and chop it to suit. Its all part of the Locost ethic. You don't need no fancy custom exhaust. |

Ya well my issue is trying to weld stainless. my mild steel welds aren't amazing on the best of days hence why I thought I'd probly have to pay someone to do me a nice one at some point.
Back to the paste though, what's it like to get off once it's hardened? |
