duratec or zetec

After reading the book several times i think im nearly ready to order a flat pack chassis and get started on my roadster. I dont really want to go with a pinto engine so looking at either a duratec or zetec engine and buy the running gear seperatly instead of buying a donor car.
I work in a ford breakers so should be able to find some bits that i need at work and the rest off ebay. I have read though that a duratec on throttle bodies can produce around 200 bhp, would the standard type 9 gearbox and chassis handle this? sorry if this is a daft question just dont want to get started and find out ive got to change my plans.

Also is there anyone around the nottinghamshire area that has gone down the duratec route?

Chassis can handle that no probs, Ash is running more power than that

My car has had a few more tweeks and its now running around 185bhp/240nm through a standard type 9 with no problems

Upgraded boxes are available if it decides to let go

thanks for the help, do you think im best buying the running gear etc seperate if im using a duratec or is it still worth buy a sierra donor?

Ive probably got this wrong but as far as i can see i would only need a gearbox, diff, rear shafts, rear hubs and front uprights and hubs, master cylinder, rear brake proportioning valve, and the steering column from a sierra.

Build to MT75 Dimensions as that will give you the option of using that box which is more readily available and can handle more power.

Thats quite a list of parts you need, add to that a vehicle registration you could use, might be worth while getting a donor?

ive not seen anywhere that does a bellhousing for a duratec to the mt75 only to a type 9, i may be wrong as alot of this is new to me.

It does seem quite a list but some of the bits il be able to find at work and there seems to be a fair bit on ebay. Im not to fussed about a age related plate, i might be missing something but i cant see any real benefit of one.

im thinking a type9 isnt going to last long with 200bhp going through it
my freind has a whiney type9 @ 180bhp and was fine befor an engine upgrade.
there is a a mt75 thats been converted to have a seprate bell housing but i cant think what its name was try google it
the way i see it is the zetec is a easyer cheaper option with the possiblity of getting a car through iva with no cat (pre 95) and in the future change it to a newer one
build your chassis to take an mt75 then there will be the room you need lateron
