zetec users-- questions?
hi guys, been down on car today first time since nov 09, forgot what it looked like, anyway, looking at sump mod and noticed sump is slanted. I presume you shorten it but still retain slant.
Also, I tried bellhousing on back of block and noticed that the twobottom bolts do not line up , leaving the six at the middle and top, is this correct. I read somewhere that you also need to use pinto locating pins on bellhousing. any info. cheers tony |

Which engine is it? I suspect its out of a Mondeo? Blacktop or silvertop??
Escort silvertop sump is a little lower and flatter, may be worth the swap get the sump and oil pick up pipe. If its a blacktop cut and shut the bottom half of the sump, modding the oil pick up along the way to make it flat. Dont worry about the bellhousing, the top bolts are enough. Pinto dowls? My zetecs (had about 4 so far) all had dowls that fit the type 9 bellhousing OK. Good luck, Steve |

Sump is slanted as the engine is slightly canted over in the FWD's.
I picked up a brand spanking 2 Piece sump last week for 99p + post £12 TT

The dowels I had when I took my 2.0l zetec out of a Mondeo were stepped and I had to turn down one side to fit the Type 9.

\hi coozer, My zetec came out of 1.8 xr3i, its a silvertop so do I still mod and leave as original but just lower. Does the pickup pipe need shorting then as well.
thanks to all who replied. cheers tony |
