Default coilovers

i know that the length of coilover is 13 open and 9 closed but could you use ie 16" with 11 closed or would this upset the car in some way

Yes it would, the car would end up riding too high, on the bumpstop, with no suspension travel left if you tried to run it at the normal height.

In therory it's possible but essentially a bodge!

You would need to move the chassis mount 3" further away from the wishbone mount, so will need some chassis re-design, then fit a 1" spacer metal spacer under the bumpstop to limit travel to the 4" (3"+1" bumpstop) of the original design.
Getting the spacer on the damper rod will depend if you can 'undo' the damper top mount.

It's a lot of faffing around so the 16/11 dampers would have to be good AND cheap.......
