Default Engine run on??

Hi all,

its been mentioned on here before but can't seem to find the thread???

My engine starts and runs but when you switch the ignition off it runs on, I sort of noticed before when the dash stayed on, but if i switched the lights on to main beam this disipates the power and the dash went off.

If i do this with the engine it will stop, probably not the best way to stop an engine, any ideas.

Thanks in advance of what is probably an easy remedy

Is your ignition wired up correctly for the coil?

Have you wired your coil directly off the live and not off an ignition? Sounds like your alternator is powering the coil directly.

Or the battery, mind it equates to the same thing.

Mark had the same problem I do believe and it was the alternator feeding the ignition.

Cheers Fella's,

its a sierra loom stripped to suit so hopefully wired up correctly?

CVH powered by megajolt and switched through the ignition.

Edis unit is fed from the same switched supply.

Not convinced it's the alt either, reason being if i switch the ignition fully on (not to start eng) the Digi dash, MJ powers up but when you switch the ignition off it stays powered up until the power drains ie swithing on main beam?? So the engine does not need to be running for it to happen?

Had it on mine. Was feedback through the battery warning light from the altenator. Disconnect the thin wire on the alt that is separate to the others and I bet it stops doing it.

If that stops it then you need a diode in the system to stop it. Let me know as I have a couple spare from when I did mine.

Sorted,

hopefully. Tried what people advised, and the same happened???

Tracked it down by removing a couple of fuses, ones that I'd installed after the initial loom install.

It was the way I wired up the rear fog, somehow it was keeping the dash etc powered up???

Decided to remove the supply and relay and let it be powered straight from the main beam loom - all seems to work and the engine stops straight away

I don't intend using the rear fog anyway except for IVA - so minimal use.

Thanks for the input, always appreciated.

PS Charging lamp doesn't work but I can live with that??
