Default Mushrooms again... sorry

Hi guys,
Just wanting to clear up the position of the offset mushrooms as I have done a bit of searching and have found posts that seem to contradict themselves.

Do the offset holes go to the front or back? I have mine to the front at the moment and the longer arm of the top wishbone to the front also. Everything seems to sit right but when I move the hub upwards it seems to steer itself inwards... unless it's just my eyes playing tricks on me?

Also when I have fitted everything the adjusters are wound right the way in to get the hub to sit vertical. Does this sound right?

Any help gratefully recieved....

Cheers
Russ

Hi Russ,

You have them in correctly, the offset should be at the front of the upright, what is happening is the effect of the steering rack operating on the hub, more commonly known as bump steer. You can reduce the effect of this by moving the rack up or down in the slots, however you wont remove it totally. don't worry too much about adjusting things until the car is built and on it's wheel.

Kind regards

John

Brilliant, cheers john. I was just a bit worried as I also had to have the top adjuster wound right the way in, doesn't give me much room for adjustment. Presumably that will alter when I get it on wheels as well so fingers crossed

When you are happy with your centering don't forget to add your secondary fixing to the mushroom. The IVA man will ask what will happen if the clamp comes loose, ie the upright will fall away from the mushy. All you need to do is drill and tap an M6 hole through the upright and mushroom and screw in an M6 bolt with some loctite.
