Rear Arch P trim
Hi I was just wondering if everyone has attatched their rear arches with p trim in between the arch and the grp rear tub, Is it necessary? Does it just finish off the join or act as a seal from water? Not heard it talked about much but can see people use it.
Also do people tend to use the 8mm smooth U trim on their grp bonnet edges. Did people space the scuttle and nose allowing for the thicknes of the trim on either edge of the bonnet is this about 3mm. Hope this makes sense cheers. |

Ha, guess I answered my own questions.
Tilly are you now fitting an S2000 engine? Whats happening to your electric reversing sprocket/gear? have you sold it? Was the blackbird fun? Hope my zx9r is good enough? |

i still have my electric reverse, it can be up for sale if you want it as i have no use for it any longer the blackbird was fantastic until it broke, just make sure you fit softer springs at the front since there wont be as much weight on them vs a car engine, i would think the zx9 will be great, afterall its a fantasic bike, but change the oil very regualarly, remember oil is cheep engines are not. tilly

I bet that s2000 engine will be rapid, ive read that engine has more in common with the honda bike engines than the cars, but its 2 Litres!
I have my vw starter mounted and modified I just dont have the ring gear. How much do you want for it? I can Pay pal you the money. Didn't you have to barter with MK for then to just sell you the gear. Also where and which P trim did you buy I've been looking on woolies. Cheers chris |

barter with MK i wish! .... it was more like a war! i was almost convinced they didnt actualy want to sell me one, they were adement that it would not work unless i used there starter motor and gave them about £350 for the gear and the motor, said they had spend loads of money getting it speshaly modified, and of corse they would not tell me what they had done to it. sounds like they were just trying to make it sound like they had done something fancy so they could charge more. as such my oppiniun of mk sportscars is very low and with all that they had the cheek to charge me £100 for the gear and try to tell me that was cost price *BU****IT* is that cost price.
anyway now i have got that off my chest you can have it for £50 +p&P i can post a photo of it first if you would like me too as there are signs of wear on the teath tilly

That sounds a very reasonable price for the reverse gear, unlike MK's price. How worn is it I presume it still meshes fine?
The bec propshaft sounds great I have attatched the quotation form I have been sending various propshaft makers, how do the measurment weigh up with yours? I gave up with propshaft for a while because the quotes were all high and I ran out of money, especially as my partner is currently on maternity. My build photos are really out of date I must updtate them. Cheers Chris |

I,ve used the P trim ( also known as Tadpole trim ) around my rear arches, I personally think it gives a neat look to the join between arch / rear tub, more so if I like me the arches are a different colour to the tub ( I have black arches & orange tub).
Yes to the next 2 questions...edge trim around bonnet & spacing, tho I also used some foam pad along the scuttle & nose where the bonnet sits onto them, keeps the bonnet edge where it meets the side panels nice n flush . cheers andy

my prop has slight differences from yours in that the sliding joint is at the gearbox end and there is no torque tube
dimensions are all from the gearbox flange face: to center UJ 665mm to center bearing 750mm full length at mid slide 1445mm i also have a 10mm spacer that can be fitted on the gearbox end to make its total length 1455mm with +/- 20mm slide which is only 5mm shorter than yours which could be taken up by the sliding joint. remarkable how close they are in total length.
