Fuel Tanks

Does anyone know if anyone is selling Haynes Roader Fuel tanks ? I was going to get someone locally to tig weld up an Ally tank for me but if a company or individual is already selling then I expect this would be an cheaper option

I don't think anybody is currently making the fuel tanks

Martin Keenan of MK engineering (designer of the roadster) will make you one. Mine was £110 posted for an injection one with sump, inlet, breather, return, filler and hole for sender. Automotive porn - that man can weld! Always worth giving him a call, turnaround was 5 days from order to delivery, and cash is very much king with him if you understand what I mean!

im making my own when i get round to it

dont forget a std one is small and will not fit with a grp back end as its too big to fit that would be smaller tank unless you design one yourself

the standard tank is way too small the range really gets on my nerves, after about 90miles i start to get really twitchy about running out of fuel. the furthest i ever went on the standard tank was 130miles but i only went that far because i had a 5l can in the footwell. when i filled it up i managed to get 23l in it so the ideal range is around 90-100mile which can get annoying as anything over 50miles in one direction means you have to fill up before you head back which really annoys the people you go out on runs with

forgot to add. im going to make a new bigger tank that uses up most of the boot space and put a filler on the outside. i have a boot bag that sits on the back of the tub that is totally waterproof and can hold a lot more than the rear tub

I tried to set up a group buy for 10 light weight steel fuel tanks in two sizes fitted with new sierra fuel senders but there where no takers. I don't know why every body wants them in 2-3mm ali as steel can be nearly as light if you go down to 1mm steel, besides after you've put fuel in it at 1ltr = 1kg how much will you save in weight?

fuel doesn't weigh 1kg per L

the problem with steel is that it rusts it also makes sparks when bashed. ali wont rust or spark.

my tank is 1.5mm ali and my new one will be you guessed it. 1.5mm ali.

thought you had an AC tig talon?

i can make them pretty easily but i just dont have the time at the moment and i cant be bothered with all the mucking around if someone finds that there is a pin hole that i missed. ronnie has done his own too, he might do one for you if you ask nicely he is a lot more time rich than i am.

I bought a Jaz tank for my car. My chassis is not true Haynes Roadster, but close. They are available in the UK. It is probably a little more than you want to spend, but I believe it is a much safer tank, especially knowing where the tank sits!
