Chassis and suspension set up info request
Morning all, at the point now where I need to set the camber, toe in, ride height etc, and wondered if anyone out there had a set of good known values to use as a starting point. Sierra based chassis with Zetec engine if it helps.

I'd be interested in this info as well as I'm getting quite close to this point too Also I'm using protech shocks and when I screw the adjuster up as far as I can by hand to compress the shock to increase the ride height, it doesn't really get it very high and I can't really get a trolley jack under the bottom rail of the chassis all that easily. Is there some way of compressing the shock and being able to screw it up farther than by hand?

Buy a 'C' spanner for use on coilovers as thats what the notches in the spring platforms are for.

Suggest the following, ride height rear 5 1/2 ins,4 ins front measured under the lowest chassis rail.
2/3 deg neg camber front and slight toe in. Corner weighting will improve the handling a lot, dont forget to add your weight to drivers seat and weight each corner so that they are the same, there will be an obvious difference between the front and rear axles. All the above worked on the Teamtrain/Saturn raced in the Northern Sports and Saloon series last year.

Set every thing square then take the car to Procomp to be set up properly, they even have a shock absorber setting up doodad so you can get the most from a compromise.

Cheers guys, unfortunately I don't have procomp money to spend mark, and they live a very long way away. Fortunately, I've found a BTCC racer who also has a business setting up race cars, whose workshop is a mile from my house. He's doing a full geo set up, ride heights and corner weighting for £150 for me, using the settings that have been recommended to me.
Cheers Adrian Looking forward to seeing how this thing handles after a set up! |
