I am almost certain that the Mk3 Escort steers from the rear of the hubs !!??

If this is the case, you'll end up with clown steering if you try to fit a Mk3 rack to the front of the Sierra hubs

Correct all UK FWD fords have the rack located behind the steering pivot, so the rack is no use. I guess a FWD LHD rack could be flipped.

cheapest way i found to do this was to buy a set of taps from ebay and cut the sierra rack down, drill and tap the end and make it the book spec length, think the taps cost me about £5 and an hour on the saw and lathe

george that wont work. its the actual body of the rack that need shortening to get the pivot points correct. what you have done will cause tones of bump steer and find you the nearest ditch/solid object as soon as you hit a rut in the road

ye sorry thats what ive done, didnt exlplain it that well. cut the body down by remopving a section from the middle and had it tigged back and removed the same amount from the shaft then faced, drilled and tapped the end of the shaft and threadlocked the knuckle back in. cleaned the whole thing, new grease, reassembled then fitted, seems to work like a dream
