Progress......of sorts!!
Right, some 9 months after buying an almost complete chassis, donor parts, and other bits and pieces, I've finally made some progress.
With work and family commitments (and just plain bone-idleness) I haven't really done anything with it apart from buy even more parts and annoy people on this forum with useless questions and flights of fancy. Anyway, after spending a few days tidying my garage to a point where I can get in, I have my chassis up on trestles and have an idea of which way to go. Big Thanks to HAndy, he volunteered to come and give my chassis the once over, and spent a couple of hours with me today just confirming my chassis, although not perfect, is usable with some minor modifications. I'm now hoping to make progress quickly, and have even made the effort to document something in a blog. If you're interested you can find my first entry along with a pic of my bombsite...sorry......garage here http://alansroadster.blogspot.com/ Feel free to make comment, take the pee etc. and please keep badgering me for updates so I can have an excuse to escape to the garage once a week. |

Good show Captain, go to it! For such a small space that is incredibly tidy, I have 2000 sq feet of workshop and its a sh!t hole of the first order, too many projects on the go and not enough time or money to finish any of 'em!
Anyway, you're in good hands with Handy (oooeerrr mrs ) I doubt if the designer is as conversant with each section of the chassis as his Handyship . D.

Hi Alan Nice to hear that you have started in earnest, i'll be looking forward to following your progress. Your garage is looking a heck of a lot neater than mine. Just to make you feel better, here's a picture of my workbench taken a fair while back .... Been cleaned up since then but alas, back in the same sort of state I have a cleaning blitz every so often & promise myself that it will never get that way again, allways does though !!?? Enjoy your build mate.

Thanks for your kind comments, but that was the garage after weeks of sorting. I didn't take a picture of the garden shed where I've had to store all the crap that came from the garage. Also, you can't see the workbench I've made in the pic, absolutely cluttered with all the crap I've piled on it while tidying the floor.
Anyway, I'm determined to keep it tidy as poss so I don't keep losing things and breaking things. Bought a tool chest cabinet thingey yesterday, couldn't afford a snap-on, so settled for an RAC 11 drawer one for 50 quid at clearance bargain shop. Quite impressed with it actually, apart from my socket set won't fit so will have to buy some foam and some socket rails. And no Spud, no man hugs of any sort today, we might be short but that doesn't stop us from being manly. In fact on leaving he punched me in the face and I smacked him on the head with a lump of 3x3. Oh yeah, and he's been spending far too long with you, he nearly called me Bob today. Thinking of changing me name, the goldfish even calls me it everytime I walk past the tank. |

Hi Mike, nothing too serious, off-side top wishbone bracket not straight, some welds need tidying, and some possible heat distortion in the rear end, but I think it can be worked around.
I was thinking I'd have to scrap it and start again, HAndy's kept me right. |
