Question Questions about Pinto position and piping

Hi all, I've finally got my 2L pinto into the chassis, but have a couple of questions about placement and some weird piping on the engine.

First, the back of the cylinder head block is 70mm from the edge of TR8. I've got it there because the type 9 has a speedo output that (may) interfere with TT4 if I push it further back. I'll check today, but has anyone had any luck with pushing the type 9 further back?

Second, the runners on my EFI inlet manifold are connected to a couple of tubes which combine and connect onto the main engine block next to the dizzy (piccy attached).

I'm guessing it's for burning off oil vapours to reduce emissions (). My current plan is to fab a custom inlet manifold so I can keep the EFI system, but I don't want the hassle of reconnecting these pipes - does anyone have any opinions on whether I can get away without them?

Any help much appreciated as usual!

That looks like PCV -- positive crankcase ventilation. Its purpose is not to remove oil vapours, but rather blowby gasses that inevitably appear in the crankcase.
