Default 1.6 Pinto?

My sierra donor has a 1.6 pinto in it, 44K miles full service history.

Im thinking about getting it through the SVA with this in it then maybe going from there. but would it be a waste of time?

someone told me the 1.6 is pretty gutless?

All advice appreciated

Cheers Will

1.6 pinto dragged a 1200KGs(?) Sierra around quite respectably so if you put that same motor into a 500 KGs car its going to be interesting/entertaining .

Get your IVA with that motor and if you feel you need more grunt you can either tune that unit or go for an alternative, 2.0 litre Pinto, 2.0 litre twin cam, 1.6,1.8 or 2.0 Zetec or even go really mental and chuck a V motor in !

I have got a 1600pinto in mine and as dave said its not gutless. it lacks grunt at the upper end of the speedo but if you keep it revving hard it is entertaining enough. at the end of the day its never going to be poo yourself scary fast but its still quicker up to 60 than things like civic type r's, audi 1.8t's

Good engine to cut your teeth on, and by the sounds of it. All it will need is a service and a new belt.
