This has probably been covered before...
I'm using a 1.8 zetec bottom end, and mt75 box. I know i can use a 1.8 zetec clutch, but what thrust bearing do i use?? |

The only one I know of is the westfield special but they're very touchy about selling to non westfield owners. Other option is to mod the release arm to move the release BRG closer to the clutch cover but be careful you don't run out of travel on the first motion shaft cover!

Don't most people use a CT133 from Quinton Hazell? I used a Capri release bearing on my build to make up the slack between the gearbox and clutch.

I got the ECB 113 from Burtons, it uses a carrier that is 8mm thicker

CT 133 is the one to use for type 9 box though there has been issues even with this combo.
THe burton one has an 8mm extension for use with racing clutches but I think you need more than 8mm with the Zetec/MT75 combo. TT will probably know what combo works |

Have a read of this thread, 3rd post down, from Locost builders:
http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/view....php?tid=81537 It gives you everything necessary for Zetec to Type 9 or MT-75, and as Vern states it looks like you need to obtain the modified release bearing for the MT-75 otherwise the CCT133 will work with the Type 9 box. I have a type 9 with a 2.0l Zetec and combined they work great together, as i'm going to remind myself of tonight..... All the Best....AndyH

Quote: "The Zetec engine will need to be fitted with a spigot bearing in the centre of the flywheel to accommodate the input shaft of the gearbox. It's not required by the original Mondeo / Escort gearbox . It is a Standard Ford part Finis No:1596468 "
What is a spigot bearing? |

The spigot brg fits in the back of the crankshaft and the front of the gbox first motion shaft rides in it.
It supports the first motion shaft to stop it flapping around like a d%*k in a shirt sleeve! The westfield release brg is the one you'll need and good luck with getting hold of one as Westfield are pretty fiesty about selling to non westfield owners. BV. |
