Default It's getting there - Rx-8 based roadster

Well its getting there, haven't had much time over the last month to get on with it but once i've decided on the rear hubs it will be rolling. Can get on with the braking system, hydraulic clutch, cooling and exhaust. Electrics last since this will be the biggest headache, rest should be pretty straight forward. Not sure where to get the bodywork from though.....

Quite pleased with it so far, engine fits a treat and will just fit under the bonnet once i've removed most of the intake gubbins.

I've attached some pics so pleasant looking........AndyH

Cool Fantastic stuff there Andy

You look to be making good progress with that project

Going to be awesome when completed, I am a very big fan of the RX8 engine

Sure some bodywork will turn up from somewhere .... Might be a good excuse for a bonnet with a full length power bulge

Very nice good to see more engine options

What sort of power will you get out of that ?

Thanks Andy / Ronnie,

You can get 260hp from a remapped stock wankel engine but going for a conservative 240hp giving an ass kicking 460bhp / tonne - hence the RW460. Want it to be on the road by the new year, pro-plus ordered....

Cheers....AndyH

Have you made any mods to the chassis to take this sort of power
I thought the chassis was only able of around 200bhp before it starts to twist?

Its got some extra cross bracing in Andy but also is made completely out of 2mm thick box section rather than 1.6mm. The 2mm box gives a lot stronger and rigid chassis and a lot better, stronger, welds.

You are correct about the Haynes chassis but this is more of a disclaimer for Haynes and when you compare the chassis to other cars taking similar power the Haynes design is as good as if not better than these.

Cheers.....AndyH

I expect you'll have some dopey old fossil from the far West of Cornwall wanting to visit Saturn for a ride once it is on the road

Better still, visit one of Saturn's track days
