Default Wiper switch

Hi has anyone had any problems using the wiper switch on the Mazda column with a different wiper motor?.
I have a wiper motor from a MGB and can't get it to work from the Mazda wiper switch, I've found a thread with a diagram showing how to test the Mazda switch for continuity but the connections only work if I swap the +v and the ground, when I connect the wiper motor with these wires swapped it will work on slow speed and fast speed but won't turn off, I have tried two wiper switches and they both do the same.

Regards Mick.

The Mazda loom uses switched live instead of switched earth. I ran new wires to mine in the end and have it switching on earth.

Cheers

I'm using a Morris/Mini wiper motor, same as the MGB as far as I can see, and a version of the MX5 switch, I say version because I bought a multiswitch from a B2200 truck which has all the same connectors as the MX5 but slighty different wire-pin layout. Reason was I wanted the wipers on the right and the lights/indicators on the left like all the other cars I drive!

Ill try and dig out my wiring notes for that.

Cheers

The attached PDF shows what I ended up identifying at the connector.

IIRC the switch switches between Live and High/Low/Washer. Double check using your switch and a multimeter of course but I think thats right. :$

Basically you need to find the 4 pins where you get continuity from one to the other three on high low and washer then wire up the motor as in this link.

http://www.reocities.com/sprite-midget/wipers.htm

You will need a relay to allow the park function, it wont park from the switch.

HTH

Hi Stot thanks for the info, I will check it tomorrow and see what I get.
Is that PDF showing the wiring connector to the switch? if so it's the other way round on mine ie your order matches the pins on the switch

Regards Mick.

Yeah I was going by the switch. The wires were in a different order on the B2200 switch set so i based it on that so i could switch them around in some sane way.

Cheers
